- FAQ
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------
- CREDIT AND EXAMPLES:
- ----------------------
- A lot of credit goes to LegsV. I only built on top of his base work. This list has been further expanded with my own experience and the knowledge and feedback from the general, so it's a group effort. I'm just the gonk who took the time to write it down.
- There are video examples of what some of these mods can do and what no-hud play looks like in the BD collection: https://pastebin.com/kTijcvM4
- wHAT DOES THIS LIST DO?
- --------------------------
- This list only focuses on gameplay and immersion mods. You won't find body, gear and a lot of graphical mods in here. I've added some textures and graphical fluff for immersion sake but that's it. Body and gearmods are plenty and there are tons of alternate setups depending on how much tits and ass you need. Ask the thread for the differences.
- With all the mods in this list and the right settings you'll end up with the immersive sim version of Cyberpunk without altering it's core too much but through adding systems on top of vanilla instead.
- >You'll need to eat, drink, sleep and maintain your nerve level.
- >It will be possible to get addicted to various substances and in various stages. Combat stims, tobacco, alcohol, it's all included. >You'll be able to interact with the world in various ways more compared to the vanilla game.
- >Combat will be fierce, a single headshot can flatline a gonk but that gonk could be you all the same.
- >Night City will remember you and the streets will have more random gang activity
- >It will be possible to play virtually hudless
- >All of the above is fully customizable through in-game mod menus. Don't like having to eat? Turn it off.
- COMPATIBILITY ISSUES AND ADDING MODS NOT ON THE LIST
- ------------------------------------------------------
- Everything on this list is compatible outside of the mods on the bottom. Any incompatibilities are mentioned.
- You should install everything in from the Core Utility part of the list but otherwise you can pick and choose. Just don't install anything you don't like and know that it's safe to add other mods from the Nexus too. Just be wary of compatibility issues.
- For example, this list has a weather mod. It's safe to use another weather mod but you can't use the one from this list since they obviously will conflict with each other. Same goes for combat mods or anything that changes in-game pricing.
- SHOULD I USE A MODTOOL?
- -----------------------------
- I you are familiar with Mod Organizer2, it fully works with Cyberpunk 2077 and I highly recommend using it. Manual install is obviously fine but Mo2 will make things easier and offers extra features like having different mod profiles per character. The main install folder of cyberpunk is never touched, all mods run from another location on your drive so it's literally impossible to break your game.
- With Mo2 you can easily disable/enable mods with a checkmark, installing is an auto-download from nexus and doubleclicking. It's a timesaver and it will save you some headaches if you don't organize your mods well with a manual installation. It also makes updating and checking for updates easier.
- If you are not familiar with it but still interested, there is a step-by-step on the modpage (yes, skyrim nexus, I know. But it's the one.) And here is another guide for CP2077:
- There is also Vortex which should be compatible with Cyberpunk. I've never tried it myself. Be wary of vortex however as it is known for not always handling conflicting files the way you'd want it too.
- DANGERS TO MODDING CYBERPUNK
- ----------------------------------
- It's best to test out mods first on a save file. When you have everything you want and ready (mod settings carry over between savefiles), start a new game on a fresh savefile. This is because certain mods can leave your save file bloated, which can cause problems if it exceeds 12,2Mb. For example, installing and uninstalling a bunch of clothing mods can create permanent bloat, a few Kb at a time. This usually isn't a problem but it might be if you really go at it.
- Weather mods can also cause your savefile to break upon uninstalling them. Usually, they'll come with a "reset weather" option you have to use first, then save before uninstalling. There's no need to do this if you update a weather mod (unless you change between different weather mods).
- Certain mods might impact performance heavily. Especially 4/8k textures or mods like "high quality anywhere", crowd/traffic mods can pull your system down to a crawl. So keep an eye on your hardware limits when picking "beautifying" mods. You won't find any of these mods in this list.
- And again, use Mo2 to save yourself a lot of headaches and prevent fracking up so bad you have to reinstall the whole game because there's modfiles everywhere. Outside of these basics, Cyberpunk is a easily moddable game with an easy to follow folder structure.
- OTHER THINGS OF NOTE:
- ---------------------------
- - Remember to check your in-game mod settings to adjust everything to your liking. It all works out of the box but some finetuning might be wanted.
- - You WILL have to adjust damage scaling values otherwise you'll just have the vanilla defaults.
- - Turn off as much of the HUD as you are comfortable with. Limited hud can give you options like enabling the minimap while driving and disabling when you get out of your ride. It also can show your loot when scanning while disabling it without scanning. In short there's a lot possible. Beyond that, you'll can use the basic in-game settings [interface] if you want to turn off your crosshair and other specific things completely.
- ABOUT THE COMBAT MODS:
- -------------------------
- The combat mods in the main list are chosen with a challenging vanilla PLUS in mind, without any bloat or drastic changes. It only adds more systems on top.
- However, it will impact the power fantasy and put you on a more equal footing with your enemies. You'll have to adapt and outsmart them since brute forcing will be nigh impossible. Enemies have smarter AI and more capabilities. They will use more quickhacks and abilities over the vanilla game. Netrunners have a wide array of hacks, snipers can cloak, ... all combined, they can deliver swift death.
- As you progress in levels and get your hands on more perks and cyberware, they will feel so much better and useful compared to vanilla where difficulty just revolves around bloating HP bars and lowering outgoing damage.
- At the bottom of the list you'll find alternative mods for combat. It depends on your playstyle/level of challenge you want but these mods are less vanilla and often completely change up encounters.

- General immersive mods
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Dark Future - Urban Survival Gameplay
- Features basic needs, anxiety, addiction etc with features such as sleeping a car. Very extensive and highly customizable.
- Comes with in-game tutorials, so don't worry about reading the long winded description page. Top tier quality overall, could fool anyone for a vanilla feature. Check the in-game settings for this one if you want to disable or change need rates.
- Remorse - Dark Future Addon
- !! WARNING: THIS MOD NEEDS AN UPDATE FROM THE AUTHOR !! (current date: 01 may '25). However, you can fix this by downloading DARK FUTURE version 1.2.
- Add-on mod for Dark Future, opens up more RP options. Check the in-game options, again it's mostly for RP but well worth it if you are into that. For example: adjusting the amount of nerve loss from killing a civilian / specific narcotic tolerancies.
- Economy of 2077
- Rebalances the economy in a big way. Optional but it does turn the economy into something a lot more sensible.
- Stealthrunner - Stealth Gameplay Expansion
- Absolutely stunning mod for players who like stealth. Adds mission objectives, it's own perk screen, equipable gear and new mechanics like pickpocketing. Must have if you are into stealth at all.
- Immersive First Person

- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Immersive combat and difficulty
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- When it comes to combat, you can pick several mods that do the same thing, only different.
- In this section I've placed (to my mind) the most vanilla+ mods out the bunch.
- All these mods come together to create immersive semi-realistic combat, with low TTK (adjustable to your liking)
- Again, I've listed possible (wilder, less vanilla) alternatives all the way at the bottom of the list and noted what mods they replace.
- Do not use them together or you will break your game with compatibility issues.
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Combat Revolution(AI Overhaul and High-Stakes) ! BE SURE TO USE THE COMBAT ONLY AI Version !
- This enables enemies to have more combat prowess, abilities AND hacking but doesn't bloat up any vanilla encounters or enemy HP.
- Pick the combat only AI version from the optional files! The full mod has compatibility issues.
- If you want specifics: the full version messes with HP values and damage rates, which will clash with "damage scaling".
- With the "AI only" version you retain full control of those DPS rates and HP through "damage scaling" but you still get all the modded AI behaviour.
- Melee Overhaul
- From the same modder as above. Better melee combat and effects.
- Damage Scaling and Balance (Formerly Level Scaling)
- Gives you damage scaling options. 3x outgoing damage and 2x incoming damage are recommended values at Very Hard difficulty (across the board over all levels).
- You can finetune these values if you are struggling or having it too easy but it's a solid baseline.
- Enemy Rarity Fixes
- Fixes enemy rarity. Done by an actual dev who worked on the game.
- Be sure to grab the optional file "Enemy Rarity Fixes - HP tweaks STEEP"

- This is a big one. It adds more gangoons, adjusts NPC behaviour and starts fun shit happening around town/

- Enemy Aggro Improvements
- Changes aggro behaviour. Making a lot of big booms? NPC's will react to gunfire, explosions from further away.
- Harder Gunfights
- https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/14544
- They Will Remember
- System that makes the various gangs remember your actions and gives you a hostility rating per gang. It takes stealth kills into account and it also comes with a disguise system. It also uses your Streetcred rating to illicit certain responses in enemies. You might have one fleeing in terror when they realize who they are fighting. Stuff like that.
- This mod, combined with NCalive and aggro behaviour makes NC a really dangerous place depending on your hostility rating. When you are in hostile territory and make some noise, you will be hunted from all sides by a flood of gangoons.
- See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ng601_zXx1U to see it's oppressive nature in motion.

- Limited HUD
- Check the in-game options for this mod. Combined with the vanilla UI options, you can use this to turn off the HUD.
- You can leave elements on depending on conditions, meaning you can have loot/quest/whatever markers you want when you turn on the scanner. Or enable the minimap when you get in a vehicle. Stuff like showing HP / Stamina under a certain threshold is also possible.
- The in-game menu speaks for itself but it'll take you a bit a fiddling and trying out options.
- It takes a while to get adjusted to having no hud or a limited one but it's well worth it and fully playable. I'm even throwing knives without a crosshair at this point.

- ALTERNATIVE COMBAT MODS
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- HARDCORE22V2 COMPLETE- REALISTIC COMBAT OVERHAUL
- https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/12569
- Use this instead of Damage Scaling and Balance in the main list.
- Some anons prefer the settings of these mod. Read the description or try it out.
- It's basically damage scaling but with fixed values, although you can edit the yaml to change any values.
- Ultra Realistic Weapon Balance Overhaul (Alternative profile for HARDCORE22V2)
- Use this instead of Gunsensical from the main list if you want to try out Hardcore22v2.
- Enemies of Night City
- Another very popular complete overhaul of enemies and bosses. Recommended for advanced players or sadomasochistic new ones.
- Challenging and customizable but be wary that this mod introduces a lot encounter bloat and HP bloat. It's designed to be action shlock without much room for nuance. Which can be a good thing if you're looking for long and tense fights.
- Use this mod instead of Combat Revolution(AI Overhaul and High-Stakes)/Insane Hacker(Amateur Hackers Fixed)! These mods are oterhwise incompatible.
- DO NOT USE THIS MOD IF YOU WANT A STEALTHY PLAYTHROUGH. It will just be a frustrating experience of throwing 8 knives at the same guy.
